POW: Pu‘uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historic Park

In 1991 the Lorraine Motel, the site of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination, was established as the National Civil Rights Museum.

This week’s park celebrates the site where one of the most famous and influential African Americans in U.S. history was freed from slavery.

In honor of American Indian Heritage Month, this week’s park features one of the longest-operating tribal museums in the United States.

The pictographs in this area are spectacular, and the ones at Seminole Canyon are some of the easiest to access.
